DAY & PROGRAMME

01: Arrive Delhi – Haridwar by surface (220 Kms / 05 Hrs)
Meeting and assistance on arrival and drive to Haridwar, on arrival check-in at the hotel.
Haridwar means “Gateway to god”. It’s is essentially a Hindu pilgrim town with temples, hermitages and Dharamshalas along the banks of the river Ganga. Also visit Har- ki- Pauri, the most popular bathing ghat which has a footprint of Lord Vishnu, the Hindu God of preservation, on stone.

02: Haridwar
After breakfast proceed for Sightseeing.
Haridwar attracts herds of tourists all through the year. Har-ki-Pauri is the centre of activity in Haridwar: piety and brisk business go hand in hand here at all times. There are thread ceremonies, tonsuring ceremonies, holy dips, and ash immersion ceremonies.
However, it is at the time of the evening aarti that the Ghats of Har-ki-Pauri command rapt attention from the onlookers. This is Haridwar at its best and is not to be missed.
The bazaars of Haridwar also hold their own unique importance. You will find rudraksh, kumkum (vermilion), Gangajal (vessels containing Ganges water), Ayurvedic medicines and precious stones in the local Moti Bazaar, Upper Road, and Jwalapur.
Later visit Rishikesh. Visit this town, which stands for the “plaits of the sage”. It is a place of ashrams where solace seekers come to spend their time in serenity of God. Visit the Shivananda Ashram where discourses in English on Hindu religious texts can be heard. Also visit the Lakshman Jhoola, a suspension bridge spanning the Ganga. Time permitting, participate in a prayer meeting and watch a Yoga demonstration.
Late evening return to Haridwar for overnight stay.

02. Delhi – Varanasi by flight

Crowded  with temples, and its labyrinth of streets, sunrise on the riverfront, as seen from a boat, is a spiritually uplifting sight, these are usual sights of Varanasi . Though Varanasi retains its heritage, the city is changing. New markets, commercial complexes and modern hotels make it a melting pot of both. The religious capital of Hinduism, Varanasi is the oldest living city in India , and one of the world’s most ancient.  It was previously known as Kashi-the city that illuminates. The present name is derived from the fact that the city is at the confluence of the rivers Varuna and Asi.

03: Varanasi
Early morning boat excursion on the holy river Ganges to see the bathing ghats and cremation site. Watching people bathing and worshipping at the Ghats is one of the most extraordinary experiences of a visit to India.
After breakfast proceed for sightseeing tour visiting Bharat Mata Temple with a big relief map of India in marble, Durga temple, Tulsi Manas Mandir. Banaras Hindu University which has an Art Gallery and the Mosque of Moghul Emperor Aurangazeb.
Afternoon excursion to Sarnath - the buried Buddhist city where Buddha preached his first sermon. After attaining enlightenment at Bodh Gaya the Buddha went to Sarnath; and it was here that he preached his first discourse in the deer park to set in motion the 'Wheel of the Dharma'. It is one of the most holy sites as in this place the stream of the Buddha's teaching first flowed. Sarnath was a renowned school of learning from 16th century BC to 12th century AD.  Visit the ruins, the stupa, the Buddhist temple & the museum (closed on Fridays).  At the museum is the Ashok Pillar with its four guardian lions, used as independent Indias’ national emblem.

03. Jaipur
After breakfast proceed for excn to Ajmer & Pushkar.
Ajmer - Nestling in the folds of Aravalis and situated pratically in the center of Rajasthan is the sleepy town of Ajmer . A major religious center for Muslims as well as Hindus. Famous for the mosque of the Dargah of the venerated Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, each year an ‘urs’ or fair is held when millions throng to the holy shrine. Ajmer is also well-known due to its proximity to the holy town of Pushkar.
Pushkar is a town bordering the Thar Desert, in teh northeastern Indian State of Rajasthan. It’s set on Pushkar Lake, a sacred Hindu site with 52 Ghats (Stone staircases) where pilgrim bathe. The Town has hundreds of Temples, including 14h century Jagatpita Bahma Mandir, dedicated to the God of Creation, which has a distinctive red spire and walls inlaid with pilgrims‘ silver coins.
Return to Jaipur for overnight stay

04. Depart Jaipur
After breakfast drive to Delhi Airport / Railway station to connect flight / train for onward destination.

01 : Arrive Delhi. Delhi – Shimla (343 Kms).

Shimla – The capital of Himachal Pradesh and former summer capital of British India, Shimla is the state’s most important center. Bulging at its seams with unprecedented expansion, Shimla retains a colonial aura, with its grand old buildings, among them the stately Viceregal Lodge, cherming iron lampposts and Anglo-Saxon names. The Mall, packed with shops and eateries, is the center of attraction, and Scandal Point, associated with the former Maharaja of the Patiala’s escapades, offers a view of distant snowclad peaks.

02 : Shimla
After breakfast proceed for sightseeing visit Tara Devi Temple which offers panoramic views, Himachal State Museum has a rich display of the state’s cultural, artistic and archaeological heritage. Institute of Advanced Study which is housed in the former Viceregal Lodge, it was built in 1888.
Afternoon visit Jakhoo Hill (by foot), Shimla’s highest point, other a panoramic view of the town, hills and mountain ranges with spectacular views at sunrise and sunset.

03 : Shimla – Manali (270 Kms)
After breakfast drive to Manali enroute visiting Kullu.
The most charming and beautiful Kullu valley spreads out its charm on either side of river Beas. The valley runs north to south of this river and is 80kms. long and about 2kms at its broadest. Yet with awe inspiring glens and mossy meadows encircled by the rushing streams and meandering brooks, flung east & west, a fairly wide area is open to the tourists, the trekkers, the mountaineers, the artists and to anyone who wishes to escape the heat & dust of the plains to breathe the exhilarating air of the Himalaya and enjoy the spectacle of the variegated mountain scenery. The valley is also famous for its exquisitely woven colorful handmade shawls and kullu caps.

Manali according to the legend was born when the waters of the Great Deluge receded and the seventh Manu’s ark came to the rest on a hillside in this valley. As the earth dried up there came up a place of breathtaking beauty which was named after the great sags. Rohtang Pass is the highest point, 4,112m, on the Manali-Keylong road, 51–Km Manali town. It provides a wide panoramic view of mountains rising far above clouds, which is a sight truly breath-taking. It offers only limited skiing opportunities, but trekking possibilities are immense. The pass is open from June to September although trekkers can cross the pass from May. Beyond Rothang Pass lies the remote and perhaps, the stark and haunting landscape of predominantly Buddhist areas. The comparative inaccessibility of the place has helped preserve the pristine culture of the people of the region.

Union territory and capital of Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh is a unique city. This is a traditional Mughal garden, created in the 17th century by Nawab Fidal Khan, architect to the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. According to Hindu mythology, the Pandava brothers rested at this place during their exile. The gardens are laid out over more than 100 acres on a sloping site with fountains and pavilions.
It is open on all days and accommodation is available in at Rang Mahal and Sheesh Mahal.

New Delhi visiting Qutaub Minar built by Qutub – ud –Din Aibek in 1199. India Gate (War Memorial Arch). Lakshminarayan Temple – a modern Hindu Temple and drive past President House, Parliament House, and Government Secretariat Buildings.

03 : Shimla
After breakfast proceed to visit Himachal State Museum has a rich display of the state’s cultural, artistic and archaeological heritage. Institute of Advanced Study which is housed in the former Viceregal Lodge, it was built in 1888.
Afternoon visiting Jakhoo Hill (by foot), Shimla’s highest point, other a panoramic view of the town, hills and mountain ranges with spectacular views at sunrise and sunset.

04 : Shimla
After breakfast proceed for excursion to Chail & Kufri.
Chail hill station of Himachal Pradesh acts as a honeymooner’s paradise. Chail lies at a height of 2,250 metres above the sea level. Bhupinder Singh, Maharaja of Patiala, when was facing an exiled from Shimla, he decided to create his own summer capital, which was Chail.
Nature is at her exuberant best and words like pollution and deforestation is nowhere in mind of the citizens of Chail. The unmatched natural greenery with soundless calm beauty adds to the immortal memories of the tourists.
Later visit Kufri: Kufri is a small hill station in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh state in India. It is located 13 km from the state capital Shimla on the National Highway No.22.
Return to Shimla for overnight stay.

05 : Shimla – Delhi by surface (370 Kms)
After breakfast drive to Delhi Airport / Railway station to connect flight / train for onward destination.

End of the programme. Check-in is at 1400 Hrs & check-out time is at 1200 Hrs at the hotels.
